Accessibility statement
Mathematics should be learnable by everyone. Here is what we have done and where we fall short.
We build towards WCAG 2.2 level AA. The site has not been independently audited and we do not claim formal conformance.
What is built in
- Keyboard: every control, including each of the 52 cards, is a real button reachable with Tab and used with Enter or Space. A “Skip to main content” link comes first and focus is clearly outlined.
- Screen readers: landmarks, one h1 per page, labelled form fields, spoken card names such as “Queen of hearts”, and live announcements when simulations finish or input is invalid.
- Charts have text equivalents: every chart is accompanied by a table of the same numbers, and colour is never the only signal.
- Colour and contrast: black text on white. Card suits are identified by symbol and name, not colour alone.
- Motion: animations switch off when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Layout: reflows from phone to desktop and works with browser zoom up to 200%. Worksheets print cleanly.
Known limitations
- Charts are SVG; their table alternatives are more usable with a screen reader than the charts themselves.
- Formulas are written as plain text rather than MathML.
- The site is in English only and has been tested on a limited set of browsers and assistive technologies.
Report a barrier
If something doesn't work for you, tell us through the contact form with the page, your browser and any assistive technology, and we will try to fix real barriers promptly.
